The Livewire building had been looking quite tatty and certainly since the Wheatsheaf was pulled down, the adjacent end of the building had become quite exposed to the weather. Pieces of guttering were broken and one more major storm could have caused catastrophic damage to the roof.
The repair and redecoration work was put out to tender and over the last few months AD Williams have been working hard to repair the roof, edging and guttering and completely repaint the outside in strong weather resistant paint.
The building is now a gorgeous shade of blue at the front, which Andy states reflects our position by the river and also matches the colour of the Livewire logo. Andy goes on to say “You will notice we painted the back (Brooke Close) white, this is to make the back as bright as possible for the neighbours and I think it does that”.
“We have always felt really proud being part of the waterside community for so long and I know in the past the building has been a bit of an eyesore now and then but I really think this lifts our little end”
On the inside, earlier in the year the back corridor was repainted and floor replaced after a leak in the lower flat roof had caused some damage, This was completed by the Royal Navy recruits from HMS Raleigh.
