Shane Brierley (18) who regularly attend the Monday night sessions at Livewire Youth Music and who features in the Livewire Promotional video on the home page has entered The Voice 2023 competition. Filmed some time ago, his blind audition was screened on Saturday 9th December, he performed a sublime rendition of Tom O’Dell’s song ‘Heal’.
Speaking about how he feels ahead of the show’s airing, Shane said: “I’m nervous to see myself on TV but I’m really excited for everyone to see me. It will all probably hit me on Saturday when I actually see the show.”
All of us watching had our hearts in our mouths as, despite his amazing performance, the judges teams were nearly full it was looking like no-one was going to turn, then bam, Will.I.Am slammed his button, making Shane the final member of his team.
Speaking to Shane, Will.i.am said: “You are awesome.” Judge Anne Marie revealed that she also hoped to hit her button for Shane, but sadly was too late. She said: “That was pitch perfect, the tone was beautiful. And I didn’t press it, I’m sorry I didn’t do it in time but you’re amazing.”

The second stage of the competition is the ‘Callbacks’. The four coaches are all assisted by guest mentors to help make their decisions. They all have their ten acts from the ‘Blind Auditions’.
From here, the artists are put into a group of three or four where they will all take individual turns to perform the same song – given to them by their coach. Their coach then picks one artist per group to advance to the semi-final, leaving each coach with 3 semi-finalists. In total, 12 artists advance to the semi-final, eliminating 28 acts during the process.
